I am not well versed in radios etc, but have this question seen asked before. One of the first recommendations or tests are often:

Have you tried waiting for a few minutes for radio to turn off, after turning off ignition?

I believe a control unit (the BSI) should turn the whole lot (except alarm) after a bit.

Could you try this and let us know the behaviour? So more experienced persons will be able to help you further if needed Smile

The 'ignition' wire used by the *HU is controlled by the BSI, not the key directly, and comes on as you unlock and remains on for a few minutes after turning off.
If it remains indefinitely, then something is wrong, otherwise it's per design.
If you want to change the behaviour, I think you need to remove the existing switched, BSI controlled, line and instead find a true, key controlled, source of switched 12V.

This is AFAiK at least true for the multiplexed electrical system.

IIRC, the pre-plex can change behaviour (switched/constant 12V) of some things (IIRC like the cig lighter) by moving the fuse 'half a notch' upwards. Tho not sure if this is the case for the HU fuses, if you're pre-plex you might want to check the fuse positioning.

Diagrams for both pre-plex and multiplex electrical system can be found in the Maintenance sub-forum of the Howto... forum here on the site.

Dare I add to metempsychosis that the diagrams are also in the Haynes manual. I recommend getting a copy, as it does show some of the quirks of... these litre French sheds.

Think you might find these are "example" wiring diagrams and may not match car 100%!
Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

Check the wiring at the block where it come from the car. Make sure they connect up with the wires you've swapped.

Instead of cutting wires you can just bend back the locking tabs on the terminals and move the terminals to a different slot in the plug.
