Hello
Can anyone suggest the best replacement starter motor for my 2004 Peugeot 206 HDi 2.0 ... in colder weather the 1.4kw one fitted isn't turning the engine very quickly . Battery is fine and glow plugs. All filters changed to. Its taking 10 to 15 turns to get going !
Im after a 1.8 to 2kw if possible .
Thanks for any help .
Col

Hi
It's been around 4 degrees so not too cold. I also noticed that the airbag warning comes on the display , but only during the very first start up of the day.
Hope that helps. Thank you.

I would say check your battery. Sounds like its low when cranking.

Good idea Steve .
I'll use another battery from the works van and test .The one in the 206 is a sealed unit so i couldn't test with hydrometer , just by volt meter which came back 12.5 v
Thanks
Col

With the airbag warning light coming on id say the battery is falling to low when cranking. Will be fine when the engines running.

12.5v is about 75% of full charge
If you can get the car in a garage ask them to do a load test on the battery. This cold weather is a battery killer and it doesn't help if you drive with headlamps, heater and demister turned on. The alternator can't create enough current to replace the electricity that you're using and so slowly drains the battery.

Hi all
Have tested with another battery and the 206 started from cold this morning in 2 quick turns plus no airbag warning .... so me thinks it's time for a new one . This one has been in the car since I bought it , so could be quite old.
Will pick one up tomorrow . Thanks for all your help. Col

P.S I don't use the car much at at night , but heaters have been on recently .... will take that in mind and charge when necessary. Thanks.
