hello to all,
I have a Peugeot 206 xs 1.6 nfz 8v manual transmission model year 2000.
I want to replace the engine to a 1.6 nfu from an automatic 307.
Anyone tried this?
What adjustments should I make? What should I pay attention to?

Not sure on all the details but (assuming you mean to keep the manual gearbox) at the very least I think you'll need to-:
Find an ECU/lock set or unlocked ECU from a 206 for the 1.6 16v engine (depending if the car is multiplexed or not this may be easier/harder than just this, if plexed I'd imagine you could *possibly* use the 307 ECU/BSI and change the settings in PP2000 to refvlect the manual gearbox and different car.
The engine bay loom may need replacing or at least modifying
You'll need a clutch kit (would be sensible to renew the clutch) and replace the 16v's flex plate with the flywheel from the 8v engine.
Probably need at least the upper engine mount from a 16v 206, possibly lower mount too not sure
Aside from that, there's likely other issues with cooling hoses being routed differently and perhaps different radiator.
Overall I'd say, without knowing the exact differences between the 307 fitment of the NFU lump, you'd be much better off sourcing the engine/mounts/ancillaries and ECU/BSI set from a manual 16v 206. Or, repairing/replacing the 8v with the same engine again.
Having been mr negative, bear in mind I'm in the final stages of converting a 1.1 petrol to a 1.9TD from a Xantia so anything's possible if you have the time/patience and experience to do it. I just don't know enough about the petrol lumps to be of more help than this sorry, it may be a lot easier or it may be a royal pain.
What's your reason for wanting to do this conversion anyway?
