I'm hoping to pick your brains for an issue that has left me stumped.

I have a 55 plate 206 1.4 16v. For the past year I've been getting spurious EML and limp mode which would pass after either a reset or after several stop start journeys. However it is coming up almost every journey now. It's always the same 2 codes(see pic) bar the occasional random extra one that come up. If you scan it quickly after the EML comes on it is usually only P0221 that is logged. Over the last year I've changed the accelerator pedal, throttle body, cam sensor & vvt solenoid valve. I can't think of anything else tied to these codes to swap out.

Any help or suggestions are welcome, I'm good with spanners but electrics is my achillies heel. The car is a solid wee car that's never let us down other than chasing this issue so don't want to get rid of her.

Sure that code reader works on a Pug?

I've tried a few and if it's not 100% compatible it can lead you up the garden path with a wrong code ..

Same with our old Renault .. AA said it was a "high pressure fuel pump" .. mine (Sealey and supposedly PSA compatible) said glow plug relay ... in the end it was two dead glowplugs!

PS Yes, I know this is a repeat of another post today .. but the question stands!

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

I can't be 100% to be honest. It is just a cheap one but it has served me well over the years. My mate borrowed the car for a while and he had to re set it using his code reader which was giving the same codes, again most likely a cheap reader. I'm tempted to try and pick up a old 32bit laptop and get Peugeot planet. Would end up costing more than the cars worth but would be handy to have Laughing

If it turned out to be this then it would make sense as I can't really think of any other parts to change related to these codes.

Good old ET3JP4 engine - Had to replace a throttle body on one years ago, original failed with a nasty flat spot trying to pull away.

Never flagged the diagnostic light & a standard code reader wouldn't pull codes, Peugeot Planet on the other hand pulled 2 codes.

Good second hand throttle body fitted, reset the throttle adaptation cured it.

Also has this 206 been near a Peugeot main dealer? There have been several engine ecu updates for the ET3JP4 - The one I owned was transformed with the latest engine ecu software installed. Could either pay a main dealer OR risk buying a token & updating it yourself with Diagbox.

I've just this second purchased a 2nd hand laptop and the pp2000/diagbox leads and software as i'm all out of ideas. Hopefully this can pick up something that has been missed.

It's never been to a peugeot deal in my ownership of the last 5/6 years. I doubt it has seen one since its warrenty expired in 2008/9 Laughing Might be worth buying the update since I have the diagbox coming. In for a penny in for a pound Laughing

Car has been driving fine with no EML since the last post so not been under any pressure to make progress. Laptop & cables PP2000 etc arrived so got this set up and did a scan.
This was the results

Thankfully no extra gremlins found. PP has at least narrowed it down to the VVT solenoid & accelerator pedal specifically.

I then used PP to stroke the VVT and test it.

No issues found.

This has left me pretty stumped as both these parts have been replaced just last week.
Granted the pedal was a 2nd hand one, couldn't find a new Bosch one though but would be very unlucky to pick up a pedal with the exact same issue.
As for the VVT solenoid I think I now have 3 different makes of them in the garage but can't find who makes the OEM one to try to source one of them.

Any ideas?
Any links to new OEM parts for these? Worth a try as I've had issues with non OEM sensors causing issues in the past.

"1920 GR" solenoid will set you back roughly £190 from the stealer.

If 3 different sensor manufacturers still throw the same fault codes, could they originate from the VVT gear instead?
