Here me out before you go off on 1.
But how much does it cost to actually spray a rocker cover how you want it...£20. Am I right..?
If I'm not then I do apologise.
But everytime I've bought a 106 quiksilver which I've repaired and sold on I've always replaced the rocker cover with a brand spanking new 1 from peugeot and at the cost of £30.
Would it not just be cheaper and easier to buy a brand new rocker cover that isn't full of rust and peeling then spend forever p**sing around rubbing it down then spraying it.
I know it's boring etc etc but for an extra 10er you can have a mint rocker cover which all you have to do is swap over with the old one and jobs a goodun.
For all who are interested an 8v Rocker Cover is £26.78 + vat which is £31.47. Part Number is 0248.F6
All this is just my opinion though..!

Good point there mate but if you have the paint it won't cost you any thing apart from messing around doing the job. When i did mine i did it for free, and i could not drive the car any way so there were no lost to me.

An individuals attempt will never be as good as OEM / Bodyshop, so i agree, better buying one, or having it sprayed professionally!

It's gunna take you twice maybe three time as long to get as good as what a professional takes + why waste all that time when you can get a professional to do it...it may cost you most but it's less hassle on your back..!
It's like my wheels I started off refurbin my wheels myself but it cost me nearly £50 in paint just to do it properly i.e. plenty of costs etc. But I heard about City Powdercoaters I've never looked back...ok it's £30 more then what it was cost me but it's the whole wheel being done, not just the face and it's coming out mint with no problems and it's perfect first time.
Thats how I look at it anyway..!

I think painting them looks terrible anyway. Unless its black or silver just to get rid of rust.

That looks nice Ben, very clean
Having sprayed three members rocker covers (2x 8v and 1x 16v), its just another way of showing individuality and it may make more sense to get a new one, but it could be the same for anything else on the car.
Some people do it because they dont want it to look standard, not just to get rid of rust
