UPDATE

Did some tar removing today:

 


 


Also sanded the rust off the exhaust and gave it a lick of high temp paint, think I liked it better silver now though

 


 


Few engine bay bits treated to a bit of satin black:

 


 


 


And I gave the mudflap 'volvo' a lick of silver paint to see what it looked like:

 


Think I'll do the passenger side now

And a couple of pics when I stopped to check my rear tyre tread Very Happy

When I get some money it will get the full works, hopefully. Going to get into detailing for this car. ATM its bucket of water to rinse the muck off, bucket of water and cheap car shampoo stuff, another bucket of water to rinse and then dry it off.

Update:

Sub now fitted and working, need a way of securing it as it slipped across the boot and pulled the earth cable off :/ good job it wern't the live eh?

 


Also fitted the pipercross, not had a proper chance to test out how it sounds, you can drive round normally and it wont make any difference, foot down it makes a great deep rumble Very Happy Also need a better way of securing that then electrical tape :/

 


Gave the standard filter box a spray of satin black while I was at it.

 


 


 


Also gave the drivers side front brakes etc. some fresh paint:

Update:

Don't think I've posted any pics of the interior so thourt i might as well:

 


 


 


More engine bay polishing:

 


 


Took the filter off, was just making me put me foot down everywhere to make it growl lol

Started making my own Guage pod for in font of the gear lever as the volvo ones seem a bit scarce to say the least

 

Templates

 

Cut the wood bits out using the templates to see how they fitted

 

Epoxy resin to hold them together

 

Filler ... to fill the gaps Laughing

 


 


 


Fitted perfect ... a little too perfect as it took me ages to lever them back out.

Only problem is I didn't drill the holes for the guages before sticking it all together Rolling Eyes But I'll manage somehow.
Dunno what I'm going to cover it in, Give it a thin skim of filler and paint? Leatherette? Carpet? Skin it in carbon? (yeah I can do that Very Happy )

Then its just wiring it up

And a couple pretty pictures I took own the unsurfaced bit of my favorate actual private road that I use for sideways-ness (not my private road tho)

haha, would you believe it hasn't rained while I have been out in this car, apart from once for 5 mins. In which time I drove normally to somewhere off the road where I could practice, by the time I got the it had dried up Sad

But it goes pretty easy without rain, I'm still a learner though

Got a bit more done of the guage holder

I never have the right tools so drill and coping saw it is:

Still a beginner at using filler

 

Nearly sanded

Will hopefully get it finished tomorrow, dunno what colour it will go

UPDATE:

Guage pod finished!

... well nearly, got the switch to glue in and screw in a little loop for removal.

Primered it, still thinking it was to be sprayed:

Driver's viewpoint

 

Hmm....

Wasn't chuffed with my scratty edges and not quite perfectly smooth finish so decided I'd cover it in leatherette:

 

No spray adhesive or staple gun, just UHU :/

 

Leatherette Very Happy

 


 


 


Looks tons better in normal light, flash makes everything look crap.

Then the wiring tomorrow :/

Can do the electrical side its just finding a live and earth nearby, cigg lighter but I couldn't get to the back of it

Guage holder Finished and fitted Very Happy

 


 


 


Also wired up the back of the volt guage and its light, tested it on a battery and it all works Very Happy

Now just finding a way to wire the thing into the car. Need an earth and +12v preferably close to the guages.

First thought cigg. Lighter but I have no idea how to take it out, been shoving a screwdriver in my dash for hours.

Any help greatly appreciated

Bit of an odd choice. Whats the spec like? Is that the Volvo with the Porsche style rear axle with the gear box mounted on it?
