June '10)

I'm hoping this is a 'Loose change' project, it started at brotherton auctions when the little orange 206 rolled in as the last car of the night, £500, no bids. I stuck my hand up and here she is.

Spec and first jobs completed....

206 GTI ('00)
Orange
85K
Spax springs, new standard dampers, rear dropped to match
15" peugeot 5 spokes
Pair of cheap and cheerful bucket seats (cheers mattie!)
rear seats out and associated crap.
Induction kit
new lower arms
new top strut bearings
new wheel bearings
all new standard discs and pads (track pads to fit soon)
new patent exhaust
Cheap strut brace

Still to do.....
Rear brakes knocking when setting off, sticky calipers?
Couple of new tyres, think their runways or linglongs....awful
Passenger fog light to fit
for the MOT it needs boot strip and reg lights.

Track car phylosophy -
Fun, reliable and cheap. This is my loose change project.
I'm not going for all out power. I'm focusing on making sure the car is reliable, overhauling all the wear and tear items and doing the cheap little jobs but never at the cost of usability.

Days out planned -
Subject to the lowering being finished and the brakes sorted i'm hoping to get to cadwell park on the 27th of July to break her in.

This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

Right, now for what actually has happened....

-Topgear lowered the car, wrecked the new lower arm rubber, offered to replace them and snapped the hub in the process....chuffed with that.#
-With the MOT looming i suddenly realised it need loads of little things doing, new bulbs in the indicators, new bootstrip and lights, CV boot, etc etc.
(nearly all of which bought of here! cheers Molly, Mattie and various others)
- It's just passed it MOT with an advisory on the rear indicators being a little bit white, as it happens all the orange laquer has come off so they are very white, but only 80p each so i'll not get too upset.

The bit i have got upset about is the fact this was suppose to be a 'loose change' project and has turned out to cost a bit more than i though, as listed below:

Project sh@theap £ 1872

Car £ 640 £500 + fees
First repairs £ 300 Lower arms, CV joint, service, wheel bearing etc etc
Second repairs (mot) £ 150 Drop link, g/box oil flush, MOT, Coolant flush, Rear discs and pads
Strut brace £ 25
Bootstrip £ 8
Lighting £ 6
Wheels £ 80
Fog light £ 23
Seats £ 80 Mattie
Compressor £ 10
Jack £ 20
Oil £ 16
Lowering £ 190
Hub £ 60 Shouldn't have paid……
Tork/tools £ 25 To get the dam seats out
Cadwell £ 89 Evening session 10th August

Total £ 1722

Compulsary spends

Tax £ 120
Tracking £ 30

Total £ 150

And counting

Oh and i'll stick some pics up this evening when the car gets dropped off

£500 is a good price for that. Were there noticeably things wrong with it in the first place? How come it was at the auction?

Pics would be good once you've got it sitting as you wish.

Will keep an eye on this thread too.

It had a goldfish bowl fog light, passenger door had snapped the tie and put a crease down it and the interior was out of a LX (i think) other than that it looked ok, obviously when i got it home i found quite a few bits 'tired' like all the front bushes and associated stuff. what i did like was the previous owner had clearly put alot of effort in, new exhaust, all new discs and pads, aircon regas and a few other things, what i didn't like was for all the effort he had put in the results were sh@t! exhaust was a bit wonky, hadn't done the brakes right so the rears warped and the aircon has since leaked. but 10/10 for effort.

But the selling point for me...the number plate ends in TAT.....sums it up perfectly

*UPDATE*

Well too the car for a thrash after it's most recent repairs and after about 100 miles the hideous noise from the rear can be heard again, a knocking/clicking from the NSR caliper (i think) so it's back in the garage for another does of looking at.....times ticking until it's first trackday, i'm slowly losing hope of attending Cadwell on the 10th!
