Looking to move on from my 206. It's a 2000 'W' Pre-plexed 3door in dark metallic blue.
Engine rebuild at 160something K, mileometer now shows 36k. No service history really, until I bought it. After a new RH driveshaft and bearing it passed the MOT with no advisories. Has 4 pretty much new Hankook Kumo tires on it (reasrs done approx 3k, front done under 1k.

Has some front end damage though. Drivers wing has been dinked, and the door opened on it (not by me), and looks a mess. Door is straight though. Some members may remember the accident I had in March. I caught a crash barrier, and have bent the pass. side light cage, and twisted the frame that holds the rad and fan in place. Simple fix if you can weld. Has a new bumper on it, needs fog lights and I have 2 new wings in the garage that need painting.

Will probablynot have ANY ice in it, but all the wires will be in place. Interior is clean, but the drivers bolster is starting to wear, and there is a large cigarette burn in the drivers seat, and a smaller one on the back seat (there before I bought the car.) Has been the victim of my detailing bug, so is very clean!

MOT till end of Jan, tax the same, so can be driven around fine, and tbh would pass the MOT again but the headlights are out of alignment. I have never been flashed for blinding anyone though and I've driven it around for 5 months like this now!

Now, does anyone know what ballpark price I would get for this? Not expecting much, but would be nice to price it realisticly.

(Apologies for the spelling!) Very Happy

£500 max I'd say, considering the state the car will be in when you sell it.

Haven't you clocked your car now though? I didn't think you could reduce your mileage after having an engine rebuild? Isn't that illegal...?

And who completed the the engine rebuild? Yourself or a reputable company?

Sam

I have no idea about the rebuilt TBH. When I got the car the mileage was 21k. TBH, as long as I get over £450 to cover my new car I'd be happy. Would be suited for either a project or parts.

I'll get pics up when I get home from work tonight.

Who clocked your car? not trying to wreck your sale but that is very illegal. Why don't you split your car? probably get more

I haven't got the space or time or knowledge to split.

I'll pop along to peugeot on Saturday and see if they have it on record re the mileage change. If they have not, what would you guys recommend I do? Torch it or still try to sell it?

Pleae note - this isn't a for sale thread (just so mod's don't remove it!) Guaging interest and seeing what my options are!

Even with a brand new engine you can't clock mileage as the rest of the car has still done the mileage it doesn't just represent how much wear the engine has had. I find it odd if they did it with the rebuild it should have just kept the same mileage and you explained when selling that the engine hasn't done that much.

Do you have receipts saying it was clocked? not that such things exsist but how else can you explain to insurance / police / whoever wants to know how the MOT certificates suddenly reduce in mileage.

Sorry if I can't give much advise I wouldn't really know what to do maybe if you explain it's a mistake peugeot could sort it out but even if they can will probably cost a lot.

The MOT's are fine. One year the mileage sat at 161k, the next year 13k. The last MOT in Jan didn't ask questions. I have no receipts at all. Worried now! Maybe I should keep it for a while longer and rack the miles up quick-sharp!

That's what I'm thinking Zena! If I can sell it for enough to cover a new shed to someone to fix up/use for parts then I'm happy! It's solid, reliable and still goes like stink!

It is in my mind that it's had a whole clock change, but I read on the forum that the mileometer updates itself off the ECU?

Alternativly, I may make it MOT passable and do a few rallys next year!

yes someone will buy your car for sure, not to much money but worth something, most cars even from garage mileage will never be confirmed,to much fiddle going on,at least your car is honest banger, good for someone fix up.diesel engine very good.

Yes you can change the clock but in a 206 iirc

If you put new clocks in with more mileage they will stay like that
If you put new clocks in with less mileage they will update to your cars mileage

Changing the clocks is ofc fine but it's the mileage which cannot be less it's common sense for scam purposes really.

I won't post much now I've made a contribution not trying to get you worried or put you off just stating facts, goodluck with the sale mate.
