So i just replaced the door handle on my 206 with an alloy one from a gti, and it all works and stuff, the door card was really hard to get back on and required force on the top left by the window in order for that screw to get put in.
- The handle works fine the door lock works fine but I cant get the handle surround in, its just so far away from the receiving clips in the door itself. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, or maybe its caused by the surround not being in place, but the top of the door card, where the window starts has a lot of flex in it, and is kinda higher in the middle than either side.
Here are some piccies of whats going on, i mean i put more and more force on it and it sometimes gets close but there's still a little gap that wont close like youll see soon:
Ok heres a head on pic
Heres one showing that when you put it on and push a bit there's a gap that will possibly require superhuman strength to overcome
Another one which appears to show it sitting almost flush with the little indent, but showing that gap again that i cant close!!
What on EARTH do I do here guys?!!
EDIT: Cheers everyone, just wasnt hooked in properly at the top, went outside and took one quick glance look at it in daylight and spotted the problem straight away lol!

any ideas? - Im sure its something to do with the door card, i mean i found it quite difficult getting it back on, aligning it, the main difficulty as i said was the top left of it near the lock where i had to have an extra pair of hands push REALLY hard to line up the screw hole in that area.

Well try the other surround and find out?
I can't think it'd be anything else.
All screwed back on and tightly?

I know its not the other surround because its just not even the right shape, but yes everything is screwed on tightly i just cant understand why there is so much flex there and why its so hard!

it looks like he door card isn pushed down enouth at the top but will alow the clips to fit in. I would take it off and start again.

This sounds like a correct answer, but if the clips fit in, when i do it again how can i prevent it from not messing up again, like whats the best way to put it back?

Is it right up to the window? So there is no gap, pretty much punch it with your palm and it'll slide over if so.

Yeh its right up to the window, but you see where if you are looking to the front of the car, it curves the the left, and then down finishing at the base of where the window comes in, in an upside down U... you can push that curved bit down so it goes more into the door if that makes sense.

Lol a bit late i know, but that wasnt it, the next day i took a look at it in some daylight (idiot lol!) and spotted instantly that i just hadnt hooked the curved edge of the doorcard onto the bit where the window starts properly! Bengie won this round lol! - Was spot on in this case!

Epic bump... to say I've just done exactly the same thing! Nearly had a full on hissy fit as it started raining, everything getting wet, door card not lining up for the 3rd time attempting to put it back on, clips snapping all over the place
Came inside, searched and found this thread...went straight back out and realised what I'd done!
