Hi there, ive been thinking of getting peugeot 206 1.6 XS but want to know a little more about performance etc 
Does anyone here know much about them? Just wanna know if the cars fast(Pull off and top end)? Whats fuel like? and finally what handling like
If anyone could reply would be great full thanks!

90bhp standard
1.6 8v
Can probably do 400 miles to a tank driving economically
Fast? I wouldn't say so.. it's like any other normal 1.6 8v, except the VTR as it's lighter than the 206. it can happily over take with plenty of spare time if you dropped down the gears
Handling is firm but sloppy around corners unless you lower it, then it becomes a lot better.
Personally I'd go for the XSi, 1.6 16v
(That's not to say it's a bad car as I have one myself. All I am saying is if you're after speed, then get the 16v lump instead, or if you can afford it the GTI 138 / 180)

not just after speed, i had a 1.2 clio and sold that recently and just looking for a slightly bigger engine sized car, typical lad?

spot on, though personally i find the handling fine on mine! 
But might aswell go for the xsi

ah ok.well firedance xs in that case 
Nothing wrong with the xs anyway, id admit if it was nicer on fuel for town driving that would be great, but othewise can get alot of motorway miles and fun driving it!

Haha, it's quite funny that the only people that have replied are myself, dj-xs and liam, and we all have a firedance xs 
As for not being able to afford insurance on a VTR - You might be surprised kempy.. I had a VTR for my first car and then when I changed to the XS, my insurance went up slightly. Now it's much lower with NCB

who was that with and was that on your own policy? i know that a xs is insurance group 5 and a vtr is insurance group 7

It was with Elephant and yes it was my own policy, with my father and elder sister as named drivers, which wasn't fraudulent either as they both use the car from time to time when I am back at home.
Sometimes it might not matter so much about the insurance groupings, unless of course there's a big jump.. But more the location you live in, the rate of car crime etc.

China Blue XS ftw... firedance are so common
Well tax is too expensive, same as the gti 
If you cant afford the insurance on an xsi then go for a 1.4 I would say. My girlfriends is 5hp less but is like £80 a year cheaper on tax and a couple of insurance groups lower too...
The XS is better on fuel than the 1.4 though
