Recently I have seen and heard of a lot of scary break in cases with cars. I want to install an alarm to my 306 preferably a Clifford one. How the heck do I go about it? where do I take it too and how much is it going to set me back?

Ask you local auto electrician and if they give you the thumbs up then buy the Clifford alarm and take it to them for fitting

I am not sure about a small garage but have a look at yell.com and find the closest auto electrician, small garages may or maynot be able to do it... worth a try though

Do a lot of research first!

As I found out, there a lot of installers that do a 'quick' job but that do not necessarily leave your alarm in a 100% working order. And once they've installed it, get them to show you EVERY feature you've paid for.

I had the top Clifford package installed at the time, and I'm pretty sure I don't have the 'Tilt' function enabled/installed and they disconnected the factory sensors.

On what VorTech says, Toad

A personal friend of mine had one installed in his 4 year old subaru Impreza WRX STi at a rather high price, at is home by a genuine toad installer

Two days later, his daughters said, i didnt know you had the windows tinted. No it had burnt out on the inside from the wiring of the alarm

Yeah you have to be careful who fits them, their catagory accreditation depends on if the fitter is qualified to fit them not on the actual kit itself.

So a Cat 1 alarm wouldnt be "cat 1" if I fitted it for example Smile

LOL Toad and Clifford are one and the same Wink

The issue isn't the alarm, but the person that installed it. And I may have the tilt function, I just noticed that when the car was alarmed and on a ramp it didn't go off where I might have expected it to.

But as Howey says, it's all about who's fitting it.

Correct me if Im wrong, but Clifford is part of the Directed Electrics group =- Toad is not!!

Sorry the remark about Toad & Clifford being the same is completely incorrect.

I had a Clifford Concept 600 a few years ago, and the wife had a Toad Ai606. Toad was crap, Clifford was far superior!

You know, I swear at one point they bought Toad out.

Their website certainly used to have all the user manuals for the toads alarms as well as the Cliffords (because I had to go their to get my manual when I needed it once).

But that's certainly not the case now. So, happy to hold my hands up and admit a mistake! Very Happy

Sorry for the mis-leading statement.

An alarm is only as good as it's installer. You can technically have the best alarm in the world, but if the installer is w**k, the alarm is w**k Wink

I paid £400 for a Clifford Avantguard 5.5
