Hi guys.

Jus recently the car has become a pain in the a**e to start!
Usually first thing in the morning or if i havent been driving it for a couple of hours it is a nightmare! It starts but then stalls. The only way i can get it to start is by holding down the accelerator pedal for around 5 minutes, after this i can turn the car on and off as many times as i like at it wont stall.

I had new plugs installed about 2 months ago and have flushed and changed oil since the problems started. Any ideas guys? Question thanks in advance !

Try cleaning the idle control valve/stepper motor.

If that doesn't help, post back.

hi mate, cant remember which plugs were used, they were the right ones for the car though, also i dont think its plugs as the car drives fine once started. Havent had the battery tested as i can sit with the ignition on and use the cd player and its also turning over, just stalling right after.

Someone told me to try the thermostat?

That relates to the cooling system. Wouldn't make a difference.

As said, clean the ICV (Idle control valve) if problem persists, replace it.

Will I think that what can cause this beside what guys said, you need to check your fuel pump pressure, because if it's weak, then the car will stall,so check your fuel filter,it get clogged with time, and effect the car starting.

hey guys, since my last post i have bought and fitted a new fuel/petrol filter and also cleaned the idle control valve. Also filled the tank and used a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner. It seems to be getting worse as is the weather. Ive figured that if when it turns over i floor the revs (waking everyone up within the next few blocks) then it wont stall. If i try to start it without hitting the accelerator it stalls. As ive said before this is only usualy first thing in a morning or if i havent driven it for a few hours. Once i get it started i dont have any problems. Also had diagnostic checks on it and found nothing, friend on mine suggested changing the throttlebody? Im stuck guys =/
