Im looking into getting my car lowered but i just wanted to know rough prices from people, like how much would it be if i just went to a garage and said it needs lowering

As far as i know the torsion bar lowers but what will i need for the front?

I just want it dropping to the arches, not too bothered about the most expensive best bit of kit, just want it sitting right

So if any of you can post up what prices it will cost and where you got it done that would be great, even better if someone on here can do it Very Happy

Thanks

Lowering the front you'll need - new springs for starters (£30-£100+), if you want a better ride get some uprated shocks too (£60+), possibly new top mounts for the sake of £40ish its worth it.. Also for easyness get some new droplinks (£20ish)!

Orrrrrrrr you could get a set of coilovers (£170-£300+), new top mounts and be done with it, and be able to adjust the height at anytime Wink

The rear - Get some uprated shocks - but there not needed, just improves handling and ride comfort - GTi ones or aftermarket..

The front can be lowered esily by DIY'ing it, the rear I havent attempted yet though lol so cant really comment on complexity / difficulty of the task.

Garage cost will depend, weather they supply the parts or you do and on their hourly labour charge..

VW Golf Mk7 1.6 Derv '13 Plate - The Daily
Peugeot 206 1.1 Zest 3 '05 Plate - Project Car
BMW E46 320CD MSport '54 Plate - The Toy
Peugeot 206 1.6 HDi GTi '06 Plate - O/H's Car

I wouldnt try to do the torsion bar if you have never done it before, its a right tw@.

From what i have seen on here and from quotes i've had it can cost between £60-£160.

Kyle GTI180boy comes highly recommended - He fits the springs and adjusts the rear to perfection!

I also think Northantsben has done some members cars, again hes good at what he does and doesnt do a half hearted bodge job!

The fronts relitivly easy like I said, so if you can do this it'll save on the wallet and just pay for the rear to get done to save on the headaches! lol

The rear can be DIY'ed if you can get hold of at least a 7lb hammer!!

To do the front you will need some spring compressors to if your going for lowering springs, theyr'e about £20 from halfords.

Try to get the forked versions too, the single hook type seem to like to slide off pug springs lol!

Bilstein B4 = Virtually a direct replacement part of the same stanard as a 206 damper, they sound good over bumps though with the gas passing through them lol!

Bilstein B6 = Uprated versions - quite abit better quality over standard IIRC and better bump and roubound ratios.

*Edit: roubound - wtf is this word? lol! - I mean rebound Very Happy
