After a few cheap mods to do next pay day, and thought I'd have a go at wiring up the fogs that came on my new front bumper, problem....I have nearly no experience with wiring etc.
My car didn't have fogs in the first place so will need them to somehow work off of my rear fog light switch....
Any and all information needed please my car is multiplexed if that makes a difference

I'm guessing you'll need a bsi update to run front fogs.

The OP stated so that they come on with the rear fog, so in theory a BSI update wouldn't be needed. Just splice into the rear fog light wiring.

Any idea on where would be the best place to splice onto would be and also, will going onto this wiring dim the fog lights at all?

You will have to use a relay, then either add a separate switch & tap into the side lights feed to switch the relay, or your way (still using a relay) tap into the live to the rear fog at the switch. You won't need a bsi update either way.

if yours is multiplexed..
look for the wiring plugs hanging down below your headlights, if you have them plug them into the fogs.
you will be able to use your existing comm2000 unit as a switch (the rear fog twist switch would now independently control front and rear fogs, as this is a legal requirement i believe).
you WILL need a BSI reconfiguration to enable front fogs through the original car wiring.
most annoyingly, you will likely need a new engine bay fusebox with the appropriate front fog fuse fitted (either F5 or F6 i always forget). even meeting all the previous criteria means they won't work unless this fuise is fitted.
if you don't have the wiring plugs then you can get a £10 spotlamp wiring kit and run it from a switch in the dash, but i've done it both ways and the OEM retrofit is by far the neatest way to do it.

That's a good point. You don't necessarily want your back fog and front fogs on simultaneously. So was I right about the BSI then?

i originally ran a wiring kit from the battery and into a 205gti fog switch. doing this is totally independent and doesn't need a BSI update.
if it's retrofitted through the car loom, then yes a BSI update is required along with the other things i mentioned.

Sounds like a lot of work for two lights...
how do you go about configuring the BSI then is that a garage job?

doing it that way is way less work than running your own kit, which would only take an hour or two in itself.
it'd be a case of plugging in the factory looms and putting it onto the computer for 2 mins. if you need the fuse box then just safely disconnect battery and it's one bolt to remove fusebox and a minute to swap over the plugs, then reconnect battery.
a pug dealer or someone with pug planet could do it (like me but i'm miles away from you!).

sounds alot less intimidating put like that lol so if I were to do it this way I would be fine to keep my existing controls on my steering wheel...
How would I operate them, are they controlled individually to the rear fog?

yes mate very easy once you have the right parts. i guarantee you'd be scratching your head after doing it all and wondering why they don't work. it's because of that engine bay fuse.
the comm2000 would work like this...
one twist FRONT FOGS ON
two twists FRONT & REAR FOGS ON
one twist back FRONT FOG ON AND REAR FOG GOES OFF
another twist back FRONT FOGS GO OFF
controlled seperately from rear fog. it's the same comm unit as a car with fogs, just the pictures on it are different.
