in fact browsing ive found all 180s with less then 40k are 3.8k plus so...... the argument of price isnt realistic is it 40k 180 3.5 to 4k versus a gti with about 60 to 80k at about 800 to a 1k .................................. big difference

Is this still going on Neutral quite clearly the 180 is better, this seems abit of a pointless argument tbf ok GTi's are cheaper but if you can afford it why not spend more and have the best? Ok it might be cheaper to tune a 138 but again if you can afford to buy the 180 why wouldnt you.

No offences - you've actually cracked me up man with your big post :).
I agree with 3.5 upwards for a good 180 too.

Jordan - The point was to offer the OP an informed decision not just say buy the best. But this always happens in this topic.

Aye and thats why im not getting involved as its just a big pointless argument, i dont know enough about both of them to really hold much of an opinion but personally from what i do know id rather pay the extra but thats just me. *clicks stop watching topic*

ano 2k with that mileage he said is a f*****g bargain, well done to the lad its mint and cheap but 2k isnt a realistic price for a similar 180 unless its a write off

If I saw a 2k 180 in good nick i'd deffo sell mine and pay a bit more for a younger car with less miles and a few tweaks here and there compared to a 138.

lofty mate your arguing with a child, he thinks the 180 is far superior, which is bollox, its nicer to sit in and handles better, a far superior car would be something like a skyline or a m3 not another 206 with all the same reliability issues, build quality, the 180 is the same car with a few mods, its not a superior car its just better, fact is a 2k 180 is great value with those miles but most gti 180s with that will be 3k at least and your forgetting the cost of insurance, why argue when people are weighing up everything not just "its faster", you even have 180 owners such as kyle saying its better but not by much, and i like the part of 180 owners are more intelligent.... some might be but your from essex mate enough said, you sound like a spoil child because a few people dont agree with you, o no someone said your car is barely better, fact is a average 18 to 20 yr old with say 1ncb will pay at least 300 to 500 more in insurance on top of the extra 1k to 2k for the car, you can buy insure and gti and have alot of change. thats the point here

Look stupid (you must be if you don't reckonise sarcasm when you read it), the point is that 180's aren't that much more to buy than the 138, wether
someone can afford to insure it or run it is another matter. Ive never said the 180 was FAR superior, although it is un questionably better. Glad you pointed out to this Essex boy (I'm not) that M3's & skylines are superior! No s**t Sherlock, could that be why they're more expensive? & if I sound like a spoilt child 'because a few People don't agree' with me, how do you think you sound banging on when most people don't agree with you?

more expensive... skylines m3s hmmmm 2010 models maybe but you can get r32s for half price of a 180 so no s**t sherlock, call me stupid all you like you will find im probably more educated and smarter then you , and just remember your the retard who says he was being sarcastic when its clear from every previous comment you believe everything you say, and are nuthugging the 180 so much you might as well f*** it

i notice how you aint commented about the prices of 180s ive found, p**sing on your theory all 180s with very low milage should be 2k reality is you wont find many if any on autotrader the biggest car advertising service out there, so its a pretty solid argument against 180s being as cheap as 138s reality is there double in price in some cases, i proved you wrong d**k, your 2k 180 was a good find not a good point to judge, its why your judgement is so deluded by the 180 you snuggle up with.

Okay this was a relatively reasonable debate, but no_offences, you've slightly ruined that. You may be a smart guy, but you've lowered the tone here a bit.

And your R32 comment is ridiculous. You think you can get a decent R32 for half the price of a decent 180? So about £1.5k will get you a solid R32? Please, show me a nice one for that.

If you go and compare a 180 and a 138 of the same age with similar miles, you'll find a relatively small price difference. There's no point in comparing a 180 with a normal GTi from 10 years ago. I don't see how you fail to understand this.

My insurance company (Admiral) were going to charge me the same whether I got a GTi or a 180, so I got a 180 because it is better and I don't intend to modify it very much. Tax is £45 more a year for the 180, not a significant amount I don't think. With only a few MPG in it, it makes very little difference to me as I only do c. 5k per annum.

Make your own minds up by following these simple steps.

Step 1. Type into google '206 gti 180 for sale'
Step 2. The top result should be Pistonheads. Click it.
Step 3. Scroll through the pages and pages of ads.
Step 4. Notice how most 138 gti's are priced £1200 to £1700.
Step 5. Notice how most 180's are priced £3000 to £3600.

Enjoy.
