52 plate 1.4hdi

Got a few problems which might or might not be related.
When the outside temperature is around or below freezing the rear wiper misbehaves. Normally if I rotate the switch forward and back the wiper wipes once and parks correctly, when it's very cold out it either parks in the center of the rear window or sometimes wipes 2 or 3 times then parks in the center of the window. After a few miles everything works OK. Tonight when leaving work it kept continuously wiping 30 or 40 times before parking. Also when I first got into the car I noticed the front wipers were parked in the straight up position but they were definitely parked correctly when I left the car in the morning. Noticed a couple of times over the last week or so that again when the car is cold the nearside dipped beam doesn't always come on straight away when changing from head to dip beam, there can be a delay of 2 or 3 seconds, the offside light works fine. This problem also goes away after a mile or two.
Also been having problems with heavy misting on the inside of the windscreen so checked the carpets and found the front offside was damp and the rear offside considerably wetter. Looked under the rear seats and everything looks dry, engine coolant level hasn't altered at all over the last couple of months since I bought the car. The carpeting under the dash is bone dry, btw it's a 5 door. Any ideas to either problem would be gratefully received.

I would of thought the wet carpets would have been water leaking inc from the door seals. It cant be the heater matrix as your not loosing water and the carpet is dry under the dash as you said

as for the other ones havent got a clue tbh sorry

check your door seals and make sure the pollen filter and drain is not blocked under the vent in the bonnet.

Yeah thanks for the reply, when it gets a little warmer I'm gonna sit in the car and get the missus to spray around the doors with a hosepipe and see what happens. I wonder if the electrical problems could be related to the dampness in the cabin affecting the electrics although the two are probably unrelated.

I know the pollen filter is OK because I checked it a couple of weeks ago, haven't noticed a drain so will look tomorrow.

The door seal is very common, mine did it as well as a friends car.
The seal itself is around £24 from stealerships I think? It never leaked again. (touch wood).

there is a hole at the bottom to drain the water, i had mine block and fill up with water one, over flow and caused my fuse to something (cant rember what now) to keep blowing,

Turned out the leak is due to the white membrane behind the door card. With the card off and water poured against the outside window rubber it fair P***es in where the membrane has detached along the bottom of the door. The membrane is in good condition so I wiped everything as dry as I could so tomorrow I'm gonna get the wifes hairdryer and completely dry everything out then break out the silicon gun and stick the mother back in place.

Still got issues with the electrics though, any ideas?

you could try a soft boot of the bsi, may do somthing, have seen when some people had electrical problems that has worked.
