haha well i feel abit better now i know that there's other people in the same boat! Im actually going to be looking at getting a GTI soon but there's quite a few things need doing to mine before i can sell it with a clean conscience!

i had a very simalar problem with a citreon zx years ago, turned out it had a 1.1 engine, check your engine code out

I have a 1.4 and I have never thought it was as slow as you describe it, was about the same acceleration as my dt 125.. although that topped out at 75 Rolling On The Floor Laughing

look on the bright side, at least yours tells you how fast it's going. Mad
mine's the 1.6 8v and tbh I've been a bit surprised how quick it isn't in 5th aswell, lovely flat torque curve but never seems to fly. Used to peaky Italian engines.

I have a 1.1 but it's loves to rev! I've never had a problem getting to 70 but if I wanna go any faster it does take a little while unless I downshift, mine has just has a full service though so maybe best to get it serviced asap

ive checked checked and checked the insurance again and its quite cheap (ish) Think im guna give it a full service and fiddle with a few parts and tweak here and there and see if i can knock it on the head...lol And its definately a 1.4 engine and not a 1.1...lol Joni
