I've got a W reg Pug! Anyways, recently when it has been raining, and I turn the car on, it makes a noise as if there's water in the engine. You can still hear this noise when you're driving until the engine is almost heated up.

Any possible problems? I'm not too optimistic. My old man says it could just be the spark plugs and a couple of other stuff.

Cheers guys.

electric arc
An electric current, often strong, brief, and luminous, in which electrons jump across a gap. Electric arcs across specially designed electrodes can produce very high heats and bright light, and are used for such purposes as welding and illumination in spotlights. Unwanted arcs in electrical circuits can cause fires. Lightning is a case of an electric arc between one cloud and the earth or another cloud, as are sparks caused by discharges of static electricity.

Water / Damp also aids in electrical arcing..

On another note, do you have your aircon on (If you have it)? As when its cold weather it makes a strange sound Smile

The best way to pinpoint where the sound is comming from is to strat the car up and move around the engine and listen for where it sounds like its coming from, this will help us give you a better diag of the problem Smile

Nope, no aircon. Also, cheers for the explanation.

It makes a similar, but different, noise when it is snowing like it was last week. I'm bewildered but will check, when it's next raining, where the noise is coming from.

Check the scuttle drain channels aren't blocked by leaves, (the grill just in front of the wiper blades under the bonnet) if the rainwater cant drain properly it will sit in the scuttle and 'swish' around while you're driving
