So perrys are charging me £280, i had it on a diagonics test and its came back with broken coilpack, and extensions leads, plus a bulb in the headlight was out apparently (charging £30 to fit and replace) ...

so now im wondering if i should go ahead with it and let them do it or find the parts cheaper elsewhere?

I had the coilpack replaced only 5 months ago when i broken down and the AA did it.

Am i being ripped basically?

Thoughts anyone?

coilpack is £70 from eurocarparts, change yourself in 5minutes, just 2 screws. Headlight bulb...do i have to say??? what extension leads?

But it might not fix the problem, it had 1 permanent misfire and 2 intermittant, its awful 2 drive, if i get that replaced the extension leads that i know nothing about wont be sorted.

In that case phone round a few other garages telling them what needs done and what they would charge.

Oh but they said its broken so will need replacing anyway? Eurocarparts will let you return it if you dont need it anyway. Iv not heard of these extension leads so would be helpful to know what they are

you sure you didn't mis-hear them for HT leads rather than extension lead? In which case, that is what the coilpack basically is

In short, yes.

DIY. Headlight bulb costs around £5. Takes less than 2 minutes to replace (FACT, i timed it!).

Coil Pack take a similar time. Plug. Play.

I would call the AA first and get them to check/replace the colipack as it's only 5 months old

Run away quickly. thats a rip off. coil is about £70 (probably a lot cheaper from a scrappy) and easy to change and bulbs are a few quid.
