can someone please advise me on the following
is the gti 206 cable clutch?
if so will the clutch pedal and cable be the same as that for a 1.4 8v?
also will the gearlinkage from the stick to the subframe bit be the same?
i think the gearlinkages from the subframe bit to the box will be different to that of a 1.4 wont it?
are auto and manual starter motors the same on the tu engine?
will my engine run if i fit a manual box and unplug the gearbox ecu or will it affect the engine one?
reason is im converting my auto 206 to manual after the auto box went bang and trying to work out sourcing the right parts
i have found a gearbox off a mate and realise i will need a 1.4 flywheel, clutch and cranksensor can anyone else think of other stuff i need?
sorry for the million questions any help would be greatly apprecaited
thanks
matt

I can answer that one for sure. No they are toally different in length. The GTi & 2.0 HDi share the same linkages for future reference.

Starter motors will be the same.
Dont forget to inform DVLA and your insurance company after the conversion.

probably
im a mechanic by trade and have access to all the ramps and equipment at weekends so that isnt a problem although if a cheap accident damaged/mot failure/blown engine 206 comes up i may just buy that and swap all my bits over but cant find anything for less than a grand near me

In the early days, a conversion from auto to manual was a fairly straighforward job, but with the intervention of electronically controlled auto-gearbox's and, in some cases its ecu linked to the engine ecu, it is much more a complex conversion with a few 'unknowns' likely to be thrown into the equation.
