thanks for your pm roberto.f i havnt got the car atm so will try it later. on my way home i passed the dealers so popped in and the guy said he would get me the code for free he phoned up but JUST MY LUCK the system was down so the code couldent be retrieved.
if u dont mind me askin how is it possible you can get the code from a clarion without the C7000... number? literally everywhere else says its a dealer only job with the CL number. im worried about putting the wrong one in and locking the stereo!

If your serial number doesn't start with C70000, you need to go to the dealer or a audio store as they read the eeprom. Well the dealer has the original coding software to look it up, so they don't need to plug the h/u in.
