Sometimes, the large circlip that secures the boot to the cv joint is not a tight enough fit and grease gets pushed out from there at higher road speeds due to centrifugal force.......
If you are anywhere near Wellington, Somerset i can take a look for you before you return to Manchester.

are i see,,i must admit i didnt think of that to be honest with the clip,there is a thought.hmmm,thats a really nice offer,but im not that way,,but wish i was now..
would the cv joint squeal,i alway thought they clicked,,the only reasurance for me is there is no play in the wheel.really appreciate the help ive had on here with it so far

No, the cv wouldnt squeal, they usually make a loud 'crackling/clicking' noise when on full lock.

just thought i would let you know,i got back home today ok,and didnt make a sound at all,,stopped of a few times at a few service stations.
Now im really baffled,still think im going to get it checked out.
I notice this grease kind of resedue is also on the other side,but not as much.I may jack it it up in the morning and have another look round.

could still be bearing depends how the greese has settled glad you got it back ok!

Was probably only a road chipping wedged between the caliper and disc. To check the boots, jack it up and while on full lock turn the wheel slowly while inspecting the 'stretched' boot, look for splits in the folds of the boot.
