Merry Christmas All,

I have more problems with my dreaded Pug, I've not been able to start it now for the past two weeks and after getting a mobile mechanic out (on Christmas eve....thankyou!!) he's told me that there's a fault with the ecu. My question to you guys is can ecu's be refurbished? If so how much? Or is it more sensible to get a new one? Well scrapyard one!

Scrapyard / 2nd hand unit will be locked because of the immobiliser

You would need someone with the correct kit to code it in to your car before it will work.

What fault with the ecu did the mobile mechanic say you have?

i dont know if this relates to your problem but i have seen a this kind of problem with 206's a couple of times, they will not start or seem to run out of fuel while driving, well it has a few symptons, when pluged in no faults are found or no ecu found, it turns out to be a fault/break in a wire in the loom that goes around the engine, the cover on the top of the engine rubs against the loom and forms a break in the wire.

well worth a look mate, i didnt see the problem my self so thats all i know, but just check the wires for any damage.

Oh sound cheers mate, is there anyway I can test the circuits or is it just a case of looking for physical damage?

What car is it? I have everything for a straight swap (no work required) so it will run fine, that if it's definately the ecu thats the problem.
