I probably wouldn't declare it. they're all robbing b******s anyway these days.

Is there only one type of 1.4 engine?

Seriously mate.......... It's that kind of idiocy that puts everyone elses insurance up! On a side note though I'd be happy to help you do the swap if you needed it mate as long as you declare it that is!

Haha, don't worry, I declare stuff. I don't know if I can be bothered. I might just do as people suggest and buy a new car. Declaring a new engine as a mod might f*** me over royally.

Why not phone them up and ask them what it would do to your policy if you put (a) a 1.4 8v 2 (b) 1.4 16v and (c) 1.6. See what they say for each. Smile

Adrian flux are known for being really good with insurance quotes and engine conversions. I had a 1.4 16v corsa sport which was £260 fully comp and put a 2lt 16v redtop in it putting out 148bhp. It cost me £278 fully comp with that in it! All other qoutes were £500 plus!
Agreed though it's probably easier to trade in and buy a bigger engined 206.

I'm really not the one to comment on this topic unfortunately, as the answer will most probably be the complete opposite of what you're after, having gone through it all myself.

However, if you do genuinely want help on the matter, and not just advice, throw me a PM Razz

Sure it's easier and cheaper to buy a new car, but I love tinkering with it.

someone buy that man a drink Very Happy

this is the exact thing Smile the biggest part iv enjoyed with all the modified cars iv owned is actually the messing around with them Smile

if you dont mind hard work, blood, sweat, despair, a few sleepless nights and some tears (some of joy some of why the bloody hell did i start this)
then you will find the satisfaction of changing the engine in the car you already have is a hundred times greater than that of just buying a different one. iv been there and done it (not on a 206 yet Wink ) and my only advise is buy a cheap banger to use in the mean time and if you feel like u have had enough and get stressed just leave it for a week or so and come back to it and it will suddenly seem a lot easier Smile

It's fun but no better so just start with the best factory job and make something the factory could never do.
