yeah thats it list upgrades, god why bother ???? answer this, would a 90bhp 2l turbo diesel 206 beat a normal gti or 180, no exactly now shut the f*** up your arguing about something pointless, and rusty i dont own a 180 ya dumb f*** look at my sig its a gt dipshit with a gti engine that is standard and will rape any standard diesel 206 FACT, f*** listing upgrades im on about the car that rolls out the factory, no 206 diesel will beat a 180 or normal gti thats a FACT dont care for cooler upgrades bigger turbos, just remember this diesels need turbos because there f*****g s**t, diesel burns slower its why all diesels have turbos and 2l 206 petrol are na because they dont need forced induction to get going, petrol is better, no need to argue is diesel was so good all supercars would run on it fac tis petrol is better for performance, and that is a fact

Alot of the lemans cars are diesel now and they would p**s over most supercars so not all diesels are s**t.

according to parkers out of the 2.0l range, the power is all the same, but the 0-60 times differ by a 0.1 of a second.

To the OP: They all have 90bhp as standard. The DTurbo/Sport/LX etc. refer to the spec. Don't foget a lot will depend on how the car has been treated. Smile

Everyone else not on topic:
The GTi argument. Yes of course they come out of the factory better. But no you don't need lots of money. £800 spent correctly and the car (performance wise) will pee pee all over the GTi range. Now the difference in price between a 180 and HDi, that £800 spent is actually what you would save. Wink (Plus extra).

The 1.6 - Yes more power to start with, but harder to tune and the FAP is a pain in the a**e.

The gearing is shorter on the 'sportier' models, so some will be slightly quicker. The difference will be minimal though!

It's not really that much harder to tune. Most DW10 owners ditch the CAT when it comes to mapping, and the same can be done with the FAP on the DV6. Only difference being not a lot of tuners know how to map it out the ECU, and as a result you end up paying a slightly higher premium.

Yeah, unfortunately if you bother to read the rules you'll see why, diesels have to be allowed bigger restrictors and much more benefits in the rulings to make them competitive.

If the rules were equal then no-one in their right mind would be running diesel, even for Le Mans where slight energy density increase of diesel over petrol is useful.
It's even the same with road cars, diesels are allow much slacker emissions limits because otherwise they'd be useless for small cars as it stands.

Anyway, petrol V6 ftw.

620+bhp, 4wd, 7 speed sequential gearbox = fun.

Even if you got to a 2.0HDi to be faster in a straight line/more powerful than a 180, it's still a fair bit off the 180 in the handling department. When you factor in everything you would need to upgrade to a similar level the price argument starts to look a bit weak.

For pure performance and driving enjoyment in mind, it would be daft to buy a 2.0HDi. Brilliant engine for fuel economy with potentially a fair bit of power though.

But yeah, I think the original question was answered by a few

Now come on guys, if I learnt one thing from being on this forum it's that the 206 is total crap, the 180's are over priced & the worst Gti ever, & that if you spend 2p on tuning a diesel it will trounce an F1 car while doing 1000 mpg. In fact any diesel engine in any make & year of car is infinitely better than the embaresment of owning a pug.

All 2.0HDi's are the same, standard 90BHP the different names come from the trim level e.g DTurbo, LX etc....

Oh and the 1.6HDi GTi's suck, they're so unreliable and break all the time

Ok, should I rephrase it to, they have a reputation for being unreliable and breaking all the time?

From what I've heard, people using the wrong grade of oil is what tends to knacker them. If thats the case, then its not really a reliability issue.

The 206 GTi is a poor attempt at a hot hatch anyway, there's a lot better out there for similar/less money.

Mods, so this post isn't spam? I'll presume it isn't so I should be allowed to respond to it.
Taking all things into consideration i really can't understand the anti Gti, especially the anti 180 sentiments on this forum. They're not the ultimate Gti true, but they are far far from bad, & even very good in a lot of areas, especially price.
