hey guys, Just a problem that just occured to my peugeot 206 gti multiplexed 2001.

so this is what happened, my car was parked outside locked. its not cold or hot outside, around 23 celcius. I wanted to put some stuff into my boot so i unlocked the car and opened the boot. Just as i did that, all my electrics turned on and a weird beep from the radio went off. The stop light was flashing along with the passanger airbag light, the 'AIRBAG' light, the ABS light, along with the triangle symbol with the same abs looking symbol inside the triangle symbol (Don't know what that is). The beeps came from the radio, single beep which i could turn off by turning the radio off. The petrol low symbol was also flashing

The car starts properly cept that none of the reading meters work. fuel meter was below empty at resting position. Rev and speedo didn't work even if i drove the car a little. all the fault lights continued flashing.

Leaving the car alone will eventually turn everything off after the bsi goes to sleep but when i open my door or lock/unlock the same thing happens again. I tried soft resetting the bsi twice just to try my luck but nothing changed. left my car to discharge for 4 or 5 hours and nothing changed.

So thats the story, sorry if it was a little long but i wanted to be as descriptive as possible. Was driving fine just a few hours before this. Also checked my engine fluid levels which was good. battery seems good. Sides i doubt these would affect the car even when the keys are out. This seems to happen when i either open the door or unlock the car using the remote key. which im guessing awakens some first stage electrics that leads to this.

Input please guys Sad will appreciate any suggestions or advices

edit: so it seems that this problem comes and goes. I left it overnight and it seems to disappear but it'll reoccur every while and again.

After driving it for 5 mins or so the instrument cluster started working again. Speedo, rev, fuel, temp and oil temp all started working which didn't work when i first started the car. The flashing lights and errors went off as well. Reading from another thread earlier, another person had similar issues but seems to have warning lights flashing only when car is started while mine flashes just by opening the door. Suggestions were to change the battery or check the alternator.

Does anyone think this might be due to a battery issue? the battery condition still shows green though and the car started up fine. I'm going to take the car into the workshop to get the battery tested. Should the charge always be at 12.65v (100%)?

Might be worth getting the codes read and see if it comes up with anything, other than that i'm unsure of what it could be, sorry Smile

Take it to a Peugeot dealer.

Sounds like dodgy BSI software.
