Need some help. Came home from work today and went to turn my 1.9d off and it wouldnt turn off! had to put it into 3rd gear and stall it!

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Can you remove the key from the ignition? The reason I ask, my dad had a 406 and he couldn't turn the key to switch the car off. Ended up having to get a new ignition and ignition loom.

sounds like the engine is overfueling i would check the EGR valve & lambda sensor can cause it
disconnect eact one sepearatly and see if it helps

Do you haveany engine warning lights on??

Just the battery light is dimly lit. Would the stop solenoid be the first/cheapest option to try ?

I would all so check this first as the solenoid cut the fuel off which turn the engine off.

on the dw8 1.9 it has a lucas fuel pump and the stop solenoid has a anti theft plate around it you have to grind it off and its a nightmare on the car but not impossible as i have done one with a dremmle before here is a pic

Forgot to ask, how do i know if my pump is a lucas or bosch? Ive seen a DW8 engine spec and it says it could be either pump.

most come with lucas the lucas is the one in the pics above a bosch is the pic below

on a bosch the solenoid is exposed so its easy to get to bosch are very rare on dw8 in the 206 they put them on the 306 dw8 and a few berlingo vans

I had a look and found somebody has already cut the steel cover that hides the solenoid and it looks like a new wire has been added in for some reason. Thought it might be a bad connection so i took the nut of the solenoid and cleaned the contacting metal. This wire doesnt look original at all.

 


 


 


 


Think i will just replace the soldenoid. Do i need a special tool to take it out ?
