Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help or just shed some light on this problem. I have a 2001 206 Gti.
On my way home from work last night I hit a Pothole. It killed my passenger side tyre and for some reason the engine cut out. I tried to start the car to get it off the road, but it wouldn't start. It turns over but just dies? So now I have a flat tyre and a dead engine.

Any advice on what it may be, or things to check would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jack.

I think the impact has triggerd the fuel cut off switch as it would in an accident. You just need to find the button and reset it. I don't now were it is on the 206 but there usually under the bonnet right at the back near the windscreen.

Thanks for your help guys, it was the inertia switch. I reset it, and the car started first time. Tyre is fixed and I'm back on the road.
Thanks so much,

Jack.

what u wanna do is send a pic of the pot hole and the tyre damage and your car there to the council and say that it was caused by them not keeping on top of the roads and they pay out for the repairs. my mrs grandad did it and they payed for the repairs he had had done.

Cheers Doughboy,
The council are a*******s though mate, I don't think I can be bothered with all the trouble, and letter writing. Thanks to the advice I got on here, it only ended up costing me £25 for a part worn tyre. My old man towed me, so it was more the inconvenience, which they'd never reimburse me for anyway.
Thanks for the heads up though pal.
