Before you replace the heater matrix check two o rings where the pipes are connected to the heater matrix radiator in passenger foot wel.

changing the heater matrix is best left to a peugeot mechanic, I got 3 quotes from good standard garages who wanted from £250 - £400! as they basically didnt know what to do they told me they'd take out the entire dash etc. BUT took it to Peugeot and they did the job in less than 2 hours (without moving dash board) for £240 all in!
Leave it to Peugeot for a heater matrix - trust me!
Oh and if your driving without (or loosing) coolant - say goodbye to your headgasket!

Why does a Peugeot Mechanic have to do it?
If you feel confident enough to do it yourself, go for it. Speed comes with experience
