After owning my old Pug 206 and having problem after problem and it then died. I was almost certain that i was not going to have another one! I was really put off.
But now looking for a new car to buy i started looking at them again. As i do love them, just worried about problems again. The on i'm looking at is only cheap so what do you reckon?
Was i unlucky before? Should i take the plunge?

I've had very few problems with my 206. Well, the only problems have been after I've put aftermarket things on myself. The only standard problem I've had in a year and a half is that the exhaust dropped off....

Yer i guess. Just getting them checked over often. And after a year of learning about the 206 i know what to look for when buying e.t.c. And i know how they drive.

Its the gamble with cars. I had my Pug for 4 years and it never missed a beat, the only problems it had were ones I inflicted on it.
But similarly, I've had my Leon for almost 18 months and it's been better still. It's just a case of not buying a complete lemon really, which isn't always easy to do.

I disagree, when I was with my ex I got her a Fabia.
Typical VAG over-complicated engineering meant that two window regulators and one motor later, a timing chain, wierd electrics, electric steering (all of which are quite common on the fabia I've later found) all having problems.
She rang me the other day because one of her windows had gone down and wouldn't respond. Google it, common.
Its mostly subjective, but any car can be a pain in the ass, VAG usually come at a premium. I like Peugeots, they are relatively simple compared to many cars. I liken it to japanese cars, generally stay reliable but when something does go wrong it'll be a nightmare to fix.
We are on a 206 specific forum so not exactly an unexpected response.
