My Peugeot 206 experienced a sudden loss of power and teh Engine Management Light came on. I called out the AA who plugged their computer in and said that the error code that was being reported was a P0300 Random Misfire and that I should get the coil pack tested.
Took it along to the garage with this information and they also ran a diagnostic test and came up with the following error codes
P0271 - cyl3 Injection Fuel Quality too high
P0268 - cyl4 Injection Fuel Quality too high
P0262 - cyl1 Injection Fuel Quality too high
P0203 - Injection Valve 3 Cylinder
P0204 - Injection Valve 4 Cylinder
P0201 - Injection Valve 1 Cylinder
However they could find anything wrong!! Suggested that I do not use supermarket fuel and to add an additive to my petrol tank. I have done this and now have experienced the following.
Whilst driving the Airbag light came on
The car was very stuttery
The speedometer would drop to zero whist moving
Does any one have any suggestions as to what I should do next? I have no faith when driving my car as to whether or not it will reach its destination. Whilts reading the forums the suggestions seem to be that the coil pack and spark plugs should be changed but the garage do not seem to think that they are a problem.
Any help would be appreciated. Any suggestions for suitable garages in Edinburgh who would do this would also be appreciated.
Thanks

what fuel addictive did you put in??
The injectors could be faulty or the wiring to it as i think the ecu checks the voltage when the injectors are firing and not. You could start by taking a look at them at see how they look?
If they are not firing properly then for sure it would start misfiring and getting 'stuttery'

IMO sounds like a dodgy garage even! Saying not to use supermarket fuel, its the same as the other ones and this should not cause the issues...

The additive that I added was Forte Advanced Formula Gas Treatment.

There may be truth that supermarket fuel is marginally different to say "shell" for example,
However thousands of 206's run fine on supermarket fuel (Inc mine).
That’s not what’s causing the problem. I would see if I could get hold of a coil pack (scrappys maybe) see if they will let you do a quick swap and see if the problem is still there.

I have now had my No 4 Injector replaced and the spark plugs changed. The coil pack and battery were checked over. The garage checked out the airbag light and speedo problem but said that they could find no fault.
I have been driving it now for two weeks and the Airbag light is now permanently on and it beeps when I apply the handbrake. The speedometer now no longer moves from zero.
Any ideas what is wrong and is it safe to drive?

my car once had a spastic speedo, sometimes it would work somtimes it would rapidly go up to 100mph then to 70 then down and up and down, the airbag light was on and it beeped every 10 seconds or so, also it stalled when i dipped the clutch, turned out the fuse box was full of water. so i blasted it out with an air line and it never did it again. jus check ya fuse box, with all this rain we have had recenlty it may well have a lil bit of water in it. even if ya cant see any water still blast it out as it can sit under the fuses and not be visible.
