Holla lads. Just have had a problem recently started - weird noise coming from the power steering, it's making me sick. Sounds, like it's pumping with a hell of a lot noise. The car is still drivable though. My car is the loudest on a car park Question Shocked Any ideas, how to solve it?!

Id check the fluid level first and top up and bleed the air out then see what happens.Failing that then a new pump.

I had the same. There was a crack in my steering rack and so the fluid leaked out and thus the noise. The sooner it gets fixed the better. Maybe the cold weather plus a pothole or something mad it worse.

That is of course if it is the power steering.

May sound silly but how are your top mounts. If the seals have perished then the ball bearings may have grit or something in them as they have no grease hence it not being smooth and putting extra pressure on your power steering.

Possible one to as "NathanG" described. On higher revs the noise increases aswell, it's like something's rubbing givin a tweak noise. Level is alright, no cracks or anything. Thanks lads

Any other ideas?!

If the noise is changing as you rev the car it may not be the power steering at all, unless your turning the wheel at the same time.

Do you get the noise when you're just revving the engine?

With the car at a standstill and idling/ticking over, turn the steering from lock to lock. Do you get the noise then?

The power steering pump only works when you turn the wheels.

Thanks for that- we're getting there, get's warmer. Smile
Yes, the noise is active all the time, when i standstill, idling etc. The thing is, that the noise slightly changes when i turn the wheel.
Why did I think that it's power steering, is because I was listening to it, and the area it comes from is somewhere at the belt and under the steering fluid tank - not far from it anyhow.
1. It is not the belt itself - wouldn't survive for sure.
2. It's not the power steering pump - it would rather die or stick.
3. Could be the bearing, but still the noise is not a quite mouse fart.
4. Could be the [............advertise HERE.................]

Thanks for respond
