Just got my 2000 Roland garros 1.6 and most urgent problem (when there's a bit less snow) is the speedo. Currently no speed reading at all, and odometer not moving either, although rev counter is still fine. car had a replacement speedo head fitted a few years ago after having the same problem and the new unit only has just under 7000 miles on, previous one failed at about the same mileage.
Haven't investigated at all yet so I'm hoping just a corroded connection or something (car's had very little use, hence mileage) but any suggestions or common fail points???
Andrew.

Might be the 'sender' unit, it's fitted to the gearbox, check the plug connection to it, or it might be the sender faulty.

My speedo and odometer were fixed last year. It was a broken wire at the big connector behind the front bumper. As the ECU wasn't getting road speed information it also meant the engine idled lower than before.

just getting round to this now, think it is the cluster rather than the sender (dammit) but if I'm trawling ebay does anyone know will any 2 plug petrol speedo do or do they differ for different engine sizes? 8v 1.6 speedos seem thin on the ground (and there seems to be pretty much zero chance of finding a replacement cream RG set)
