If there's a big release of pressure... head gasket likely. Check for gunk in the coolant tank and mayo-like slime on the oil cap/dip stick.

Had the head gasket looked at and apparantly that is ok, no water in the footwell. The leak seems to be coming from the front drivers side of the car. There is no gunk on the oil dip stick or cap.

Cheers for your replies.

Thanks Neil

sounds like a hose as split on the underside of the coolant tank or a crack in the tank it self

Ah that's good news. Does it seem to leak when the engine has cooled down? As it sounds like it's your water pump - it can hold water when driving in some cases so you don't get overheating as the seals are expanded. But when the engine cools the seals if damaged shrink and you lose water over night or parked during the day. Put some newspaper under your car and you'll be able to tell exactly where it's dripping from.

I must admit at first I thought it was the head gasket, was v relieved when told is wasn't!

It does leak when it's cooled down, it leaks a bit when it's running but seems to leak more when the car is parked up during evening/day.

Good idea to put some paper down, just got to wait for a dry day to do so!

Thanks Neil

Good luck with it. Does sound like a dying water pump though - esp as you say you can locate the leak to the drivers side of the engine bay. But hopefully it's just a simple hose Confused .
