Soo, as many of you know my car has been making a whining noise for a while, i thought it was the power steering pump but after having it changed last night, it hasn't fixed my problem Evil or Very Mad

Has anyone got any other ideas what would make it whine???

the noise increase when i accelerate and decreases when decelerating, and at 50mph it stops.

This noise is driving me mad, i need to fix it.

Ideas??

Very Happy

Sounds like a bad earth to me, does it almost sound like a turbo whistle?

Years ago my mate managed to convince the whole 6th form (Apart from these with common sence) that his 1.3 Mazda 323 was a quad turbo

Had a - '99 Firedance 138 GTi - Broken
Then a - '10 Corsa - Hire Car
Now a - '56 A3 2.0TDi - Current Car

Whining or whirring noise?

Mine made a whirring noise, sounded like a cable tie rubbing on my tires, and the noise was only there at certain revs.

Turns out it was the timing belt.

Being the picky sort - I really hate it when people say this. Yes we all know what it looks like - but we all want to see the condition that yours is in!

if your gearbox oil is seperate to the engine oil could just mean your running low on oil in the box

ORR could be that super charger we spoke about haha Cool

Maybe the 17's are taking their toll on the gearbox, as others suggested.

Mine was the same as What He Said

Remove the aux belt and see if the noise goes away.
