Sounds like the splines have gone on either the arm or the motor.

Take the arm off and have a look would be the best bet, hopefully it will be the arm as they are cheap to replace.

the motor's fine, i think the bolts worn part the arm away and thats why there gap. i was thinking, could i just do a simple solution with some washers? just to keep the keep the wiper in place and for it to still work?

the wiper arms are pretty cheap, much easier to replace than to bodge it.

Mine's been like this for a while, think the wiper arms are about a tenner delivered on ebay. I can't decide whether to replace it it de-wiper.

Thought you might of been involved in this thread lol,

I refer to the thread starter that your wiper motor and stalk need taking off to investigate whether its the splines (grooves) on the motor or the stalk are damaged, then you will know if you need to replace the stalk or motor its self, even though your motor is working it still may need replacing due the splines being damaged.
