My key has had water damage and needs new chip!! Went to dealer said £69 exc VAT, And thats literally just the chip, not to program it etc etc! Luckily I have the code for it though Does that sound right????

Yes. Not cheap - we had to get a new one for our Kia - £180.

could you not try a local locksmiths that does car keys?

The chip itself is fried!!! I already went ot a locksmiths! and thats his exact words!! He said you will need a new chip, then I can easily code it for you!

oh i see, what i meant was that if a local locksmiths can make spare car keys surely they will have the chips and maybe they would be cheaper than the dealer prices

Buy a key from here including transponder - www.hickleys.com/diagn...02&manu=28 Then sell the brand new key on eBay

As Lee says I think they will sell you just the transponder for about a fiver so possibly even cheaper.
