any 1 know been using my old mans diag tools (snapon jobby)

but want my own cheap solution

That will only scan powertrain codes, not ABS, SRS, or anything like that.

You need pins 4, 5, 7, 15 and 16 to be active.

Powertain = P codes

Depends if your car is EOBD. It's trial and error for this age of car.

seems like this is a popular topic tonight. leigh-boy if you find out an answer to this let me know if you dont mind. need a code reader myself to find out why my engine management light is on but not certain what i need.

im lost Sad basicaly we connected a snapon tool that reads odb2 and it shows the problems i.e speed sensor something similar.

i haven't got a clue. thought it would be simple to buy one and get the codes read but seems not..will have to keep an eye out to see if i can find out one which is compatable..you got any possibilities.

Snap on is a expensive brand, same with Sealey, they'll read back dated versions of protocols, thats why they work.

Like I said in the other thread, I used to have Engine Check which cost £70-£80 and that didn't work on mine.

the dealer i had my car from today showed me a black case , it was the size of an average drill case .... said it cost him 2 grand.

dunno what make it was tho Shocked
