Hello, since Sunday my clutch has felt a little strange when setting off from stationary. The best way I can describe it as I'm not very mechanical minded is it feels scratchy no vibrations as such and seems ok in other gears. No squeeling or noise that I can tell.

It just doesnt feel the same as it did on Saturday

Could this be an early warning sign that it's about to pack up?

After my incident I'm skint for a couple of months and the MOT is due end of April will it last until then?

Cheers

sounds to me like the pressure plate is worn out, new clutch time im affraid and if it turns out it is the release bearing you would have to take the clutch off to replace so your better off buying a kit

Can you hear a rattling sort of sound? then drop the clutch and it should stop rattling. If thats the case, its your clutch reease bearing and should be fine for a few months Smile

you will begin to notice when your clutch is gonna pack up when you put your foot down and you dont go anywhere, this is more noticable in the early stages on the motorway in high gears, As it worsens you will begin to notice it in lower gears at lower speeds, Eventually you will be stranded.

As stated above, if its your clutch release bearing you will hear a funny noise when the engine is idleing, dip your clutch and if the noise goies away its the release bearing but still recommended to change the clutch kit at the same time.

Once the balls gets rolling its hard to stop, (1 problem after another) Reading these forums is like owning my Subaru WRX again!

Thanks everyone, there is no noticable noise coming from it with clutch up or down. I don't feel any loss of power or no change in the bite point. It's just not the same as it was last week.

Do 206's have a clutch cable? Could this be worn?

Cheers

this isnt the same in all cases

if the springs have come out of the the clutch then it will be quite vicious engaging and eventually it wont disengage at all if the release bearing seizes it will do the same, ive had a CRB completely die on me in a traffic jam and if your in first and you put the clutch down the engine wont fully disengage and it will pull you forward you have to put it into neutral an then ram it into gear!

Ok so further to my most recent post, the b***h is making a noise now and have a whining when setting off in 1st gear.

How much longer can I leave it?

How much is this likely to cost?

Sad
