first off sorry for opening up a new thread..know that this will have been answered somewhere but cant get the exact info when i search.
car is a x reg gti with 72k on the clock. owned it for a year and put 8k on in that time. I have got no documentation to say when/if this has ever been done so thought i had better get it sorted.
What i want to know is if i am getting this done what should i get replaced at the same time if anything.
Also, usual question but what price would i be looking at all in from a independent garage. Thinking of buying the timing kits off euro car parts and supplying them, hopefully it will work out cheeper.
any ideas/help would be greatful as stuff has started going wrong with it in the last few weeks and cant help but feel it's going to give me a big kick between the legs and fail on me.

They need about 4 hours to do the belt. Get one of the water pumps that come with the housing fitted from Euro Car Parts.
Some people will say buy a genuine pump from the dealer but they don't realise that often the same suppliers supply Peugeot with their parts!

thats why i looked around lol 300 was far too much for the work
also i asked how much the timing belt kit was and they said 100 so can only assume they marked it up
