Hi guys,

I've had nothing but problems with this car since I picked it up for my girlfriend in December. The latest problems are the central locking, the car pulling to the left and a squeek coming from the rear driver side drum.

1. Central locking
When I go to lock the car it locks and the immedietly unlocks, sometimes this happens once and then locks ok the 2nd time however recently it keeps happen and will not lock at all. I have locked all the doors manually only to come back later and find all the doors unlocked! Any ideas

2. The car pulling to the left
I have taken it to quick fit to check the tracking, the guy put it up and showed me the tracking was fine and didn't need adjusting (he pointed out a few other things while it was up and sealed a blowing exhaust). In the end he said he couldn't charge me! as there was nothing wrong! Kind of a result but the car was still pulling. I swapped the front and back tyres to eliminate the wheels/tires and now it appears better but still pulling a bit. Not really sure where to start.

3. Sqweek from rear drum
Sounds like a problem on the rear drums, could be metal on metal type sqweeking. Went to take off the rear drums but it looks like you would have to hammer out a bit in the metal nut holding the drum on. I dont want to f**k up the nut so whats the best way to do this or does anyone have any other ideas.

The car has an MOT next month so need to get the serious issues sorted.
Cheers guys
Chris

1 Are all doors closed
2 For the car pulling to the side it could be the air in the wheels i'll get that checked out aswell
3 Could be metal on metal best thing is to get new brakes put on

sorry about the spelling

Yeah all the doors are closed, previously i have gone round and slammed all the doors and sometimes this worked and sometimes not. Can I isolate this to see if it is a particular door/lock??

Also I think the clutch release bearing is going - Start the car and there is a tapping, dip the clutch and it goes

I'm starting to hate this car!

Easy fixes

1. solenoid in one of the door locking mech's, search door lock bouncing
2. Did he use a laser line??? Im sure i have read things about struts/suspension acting on the pulling
3. Rear drum, change the shoes, check the handbrake etc while your there.

Thanks for the quick reponses.

The guys checked the alignment with a laser and showed me it was within tollerance? I checked the tyre pressure all ok on all 4.

I'll checked the drums/handbrake an let you know.

Brake caliper binding possibly. Take it for a spin and when you stop see if either alloy is warmer (don't touch the disc). If one warmer the caliper is sticking.

I tried to sort the central locking today - looked at other posting and people suggested the solonoid. Locked the car to see if any of the locks didn't move. all went down and then bounced up so thought it could be the solonoid in the boot. Unplugged the boot lock mech and tried the locks - smae problem! going to try the front doors next will let you know. If anyone has any other suggestions it would be appriciated.

I dont think unplugging the mechs will work, the car will think its failed and bounce back, same as if the solenoid had gone.
But try and find out for me lol.

I have a spare solenoid here, but i dont know which side it is/cant remember, if you find out which one it is, let me know and i will see what side i have. £10 posted and its yours, cheap fix me thinks Very Happy

4door..... s**t.

have you looked at the actual mech, by taking door card off and doing remote locking?
Should find one that only moves half as much as the others, or moves slower, or instantly flicks back
