It will do that to prevent you car overheating.

Double check your engine coolant level anyway.

i know the fan is supposed to come on, and it does cool the car down. My dad looked at it last night and said something about the fan being out of balance/ fan bearing worn? anyone else know what i mean?

Mine was very loud and made a clunking sound as it stopped spinning, got a mate at work (mechanic) to have a look, I think he drilled into it and filled it with grease or wd40. It's still loudish but I don't sh*t myself when it comes on now, it comes on when in traffic at about 91C.
I've been quoted 75 quid for a new fan from Peugeot for my 1.1. Gonna have to change it before the mot I think

I had the same problem on my old car (2001 GTi) a few years ago, sounds like a rattle when the fan cuts in, a very loud rattle at that.

The bearing had gone and the fan was out of balance, new fan from peugeot sorted it

Its overheated easily over 10 times before I fixed the fan, so now it gets hot really quick. Needs a good flush of every fluid imo.

Mine hits in at 90 and I do tend to s**t myself, especially when it traffic, on a hot summers day! Should be fine though.
