Hi all

For a while now my engine fan isnt kicking in so the car is getting uber hot which is never good. I have checked most of the fuses (although admittedly not all, if anyone knows if its from a particular one that would be good) and they seem ok. Is there anything else I should be looking at as to why its not coming on?

Any help appreciated. Smile Praying its not anything expensive!

Thanks

The wiring is known to corrode.
I'll look up the fuse in a sec.

Have you tried turning on the air con? It should turn on then. This way you can check that the fan is working.

I did this dude and it didn't work. But I know the fan works because I had it out and put power across it. It only proves whether the wiring could be faulty and if power is reaching the fan Wink

Thanks guys. Very Happy Was a combination of the relay and the wire going to it was all coroded and had become un attached. Sorted all this and the fan will come on when the air con is on now.

However after some looking around it looks like there may be a problem with the resister which is why the low speed fan isnt kicking in? Whats happening now, is it seems to wait until its getting to about 95-97 with just the engine on, kicking in until it drops it down to 90..... Seems a little high to me.

I did do a search and found a thread but seem to have quite a few conflicting answers and was quite old.

That's normal for it to get to 97 and then the fan kicks in and takes it down to around 90 - my 1.4 HDI does that too.
