Ever since I've had my GTi 180 the power steering has had a fault..

If I attempt to turn the wheel quite fast (i.e parking or making a slow speed sharp turn) the wheel goes very, very heavy as if the pump can't keep up or something?

I've check the fluid, and all seems normal to me.

Whats the problem? Pump on it's way out?
System needs bleeding (if thats possible)?

Thanks guys..

Does it make a noise when turning?

sound to me like the pump is dead. you only notice at low speeds/during manouvers anyway.

Dead or dying? As it works when turning the wheel not in a sharp or fast way

cant see why it would be intermittent unless its low on fluid?

does the pump whine when you take the wheel to its left/right extremity?
