So the anti roll bar bolt is missing, the plug in the centre of the end plate is missing and the washer hasn't been put into the groove either?

Which halfwit did that? Those washers sitting in the grooves are the only things stopping the trailing arms coming off the axle tube.

did any disc axle use brake compensating valves?

If the car has ABS, then no, and that includes drum axles.

I have ABS and a brake compensator so i would double check with a garage. I think the newer cars which have ABS and EBFD might not have it. all depends on age IIRC.

(Don't quote me on it but i would check)

Laughing

the thing is my car is old and don't have abs,ebc,ebd,abc...etc Laughing

so i will need a compensator valve on the new disc axle (as it is from a 05 gti, it doesn't come with that)

The 1st picture you posted up shows the brake compensator attached. Also ABS was an option on the XS in 1999 and then standard in 2000.

But as i say the axle on the car shows you have a brake compensator spring but it may have been removed as i can't see clearly if its attached to anything.

Yeah its easy dude, you use the compensator valve that is on the car now, once you remove the drum axle you'll know what I am talking about.
If you need any help then drop me a pm Wink
