I've got the infamous VVT problem on my 180. I want to try unplugging it and giving it a clean.

Having problems unplugging it thou! It's such a tight space to get my hand in. Any tips?

Can you not get the plug of the solenoid? or the solenoid out the head?

You have to give it a bloody good pull mate but it will come off.

That selenoid have a stronger oring. You have to use same brutal force for remove them. Smile

Thanks for the replies, literally just got it out.
Getting the plug out and off the solenoid was annoying, quite hard to get to, especially with a strut brace! I took the coilpack out in the end to allow a little more room.

Getting the actual solenoid out of the engine block was even harder, very tight space so you cant really grab it properly, but it came out in the end Smile

I'll let you know if it fixes my VVT problem later after a drive Smile

Did your EML light illuminate to warn you about the VVT solenoid being dodgy or was the car just sluggish to drive? I'm just wondering 'because my 180 seems slower some days...

Are you planning on replacing it altogether?

VVT problem dont apper on EML light. ECU cant detect any fault about VVT without shortcut.

I've had the car about 5 months, and the EML has been on the whole time, but I've only recently got it read.

I've driven the car for about an hour, and there isn't a different in performance and the light hasn't gone off Sad

This was my code reading faults and I haven't fixed the air con wiring problem, so that why most likely Wink

I'm gonna have to replace the VVT solenoid arn't I? Sad

Thanks - but what do you mean about "shortcut?" I maybe a bit thick and certainly an Idiot but I have a code reader and nothing is showing at the moment, so how would I find out if my VVT solenoid is sticking or stuck?
