 Hi, Just bought a 206 (2000 reg) 1.9 Diesel - 3 door. having problems with the central locking - all doors need to be locked manually and the boot dosen't have a barrel lock so is always open. when you press the key fob it will unlock all doors but when you go to lock it the locks goe down and bounce straight back up --- anyone had this problem & know the cause?
I am expecting its a problem within the driverside door lock system. any help greatly apprieciated, thanks.

Probably the door solenoid. Just needs a new one

Surely you wont be able to lock all the doors with the key if the boot is open
EDIT.. Read it wrong, it'll be the solenoid

First to lock your boot, open the boot up until its high in the sky, then look up, you will see a small black cut out should be on the left i think, It just pops down like a little door, and then you manually push the lock to the left to the lock the boot then shut the boot and wala its locked!!!!  With regards to the locks check the fuses under the steering wheel to see if its that, failing that its a solenoid,

I've had massive experience as this central locking system is used on older French models.
As memory serves right, each door has a white 2 pin connector for power to drive the lock solenoid up and down and a 3 pin brown connector to serve as a lock position switch.
When the system is asked to lock, it pulses each door to lock then uses each door lock position switch to confirm that each door has successfully locked.
This is to stop an open door (which cannot be locked) from letting the system being locked, and maybe telling you that one door isn't closed properly.
Although all door solids might go down, the switches inside always break.
The central lock system should be activated by both front doors on the key and the boot one doesn't have a position lock switch.
Sounds like the drivers door solenoid to me, but just to explain for future searches.

In my experience, every door except the boot solenoid has them.
But does preplexed 206s have that switch on the boot catch!?

Only 206's with a factory fit alarm have a tailgate open switch.
As for the door ajar / courtesy light switches they are built in to the lock solenoid & cant be replaced on there own.
Old PSA stuff you just clipped a new switch on the bottom of the latch, not any more

I'm sure the boot courtesy light is controlled by those beige 1 inch long switch which contains grease ball bearings, which fall and short through the ball bearings to earth.
They're crap, an old idea and play up terrible, which happens on mine all the time.
I'm constantly ultimate warrior 3 rope fury on my boot to get the ball bearings to drop to bring the light on. V ANNOYING!

The boot light maybe but that isnt wired in to the central locking 
The tailgate sensor that checks if its open or shut clips in to the striker on the bodyshell.
