... ok, I know cone filters aren't liked too well on here but I'm not interested in your opinion of them so no posting that please.
What I'm looking for is an idea why my car is being weird.
Right, I've had 3 different open cone filters on my 206 GTi and none of which has made any difference to throttle noise. The latest one, (that luckily I didn't pay anything for) is a Pipercross Piper X foam cone.
I've heard cone filters on a few GTi's and have just also been watching them on Youtube so I know what its supposed to sound like.
My question is... why does it make no difference noise wise when it should???

Have you tried the standard airbox?
It will sound different then.

I take it your listening to ones with foam/closed cone filters as opposed to open cone filters?

Being the picky sort - I really hate it when people say this. Yes we all know what it looks like - but we all want to see the condition that yours is in! | |

No, been watching vids of open filters and like I said, the latest filter is a foam one.
@CD-vRS I had a standard airbox on before and there's no difference in noise, whether its the airbox or a cone on.

close clone filter is a good way to reduce noise level.
and it sounds almost like an oem airbox

So if have heard GTi's with this exact cone filter and yours doesn't sound the same.
Ok, is there a lot of sound difference?
What about the piping used from the filter back to the throtle - is it the same?

they will make a massive difference to noise lol well they should every car i have had and every car i know with even a hole in the air filter makes it sound more airy, i think you need to put the standard box back on take a drive then put the old one back on and u will notis it..... failing this if you just take it off completely and if it make any noise difference then your filter is probably well compact and quite air restrictive
