This is the problem Confused

So the ABS ring is cracked and needs replacing, i've seen a 'How to' to change the CV Joint, but there isn't any pictures and before i get the angle grinder to anything, i wanna see what i should be cutting.

Now i've found the CV Joint @ www.jandrcvjoints.co.u...-4501.html think its the right one for the 1.6 Hdi Gti, not too expensive at £17, but they also sell the full driveshaft www.jandrcvjoints.co.u...-4583.html for £50, i imagine, swapping out the full drive shaft and putting the complete new one in, will or should be easier than just fitting the CV Joint, or isn't it too difficult?

So thats my question really, whats the easier way to fix this.

Also which is the side that when you pull the drive shaft out, the gearbox empties itself of oil?

Thanks

Drivers driveshaft is a pain to swap, spesh if it gets stuck in the engine mount

But some people take it out to do the CV joint, makes life easier

Can be done on the car, i personally just replace the shaft but that is a lot cheaper

I changed the whole shaft on mine. More new parts = better. Genuine Peugeot to because Euro Car Parts sent a splindly thin aftermarket shaft. Would have fitted but wouldn't be as strong.

Mine just came straight of i would imagine yours would be the same seein as its cracked and to get it on i just stuck the new ring in the oven for 25 minutes to heat it up then tapped it back onto the driveshaft not hard at all.
