Does the car have to be level when filled?
I'll have the car on axle stands to get to the drain plug but should it all be put back down on the ground before filling to make sure it's all at the right level?

If so how the hell do you get to the fill hole?

as long as its on 2 axle stands and not one, you should be ok. best thing is to do is put axle stands on lowest position, one on either side and fill it up from pass side with wheel taken off.

also do on flat-ish ground

I tend to fill mine with the front on the ramps. Most oil bottle have tubes which pull out of the bottle. Alternatively get some tubing from B&Q and a funnel.

You can also get to the filler plug if you put the steering on full lock. So it is possible to top the oil up with all 4 wheels on the ground.
